MOORE, William

Native son of Nanaimo, born June 08, 1919, passed away peacefully February 11, 2004. Predeceased by beloved wife of 51 years Daisy, survived by sons: Bill and Doug (Kim), grandchildren: Buddy, Angie, Garrett, Charity and Daniel. Bill had a full life, making many friends and pursuing his chosen interests with passion, including being a prominent citizen of Nanaimo, selected as “Citizen of the Year” for 1978. He was a valued employee of the B.C. forest service on central Vancouver Island for 38 years. His volunteer activities included 37 years with the St. John Ambulance Brigade, attending many events, such as Red Cross Society blood donor clinics, Bathtub Society festivities, Cub Scouts jamboree’s as well as numerous other activities. He was a trustee for the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and secretary treasurer for the Vancouver Island Mine and Industrial Association. In his later years he became a prominent member of the Masonic Order, Past Master of Ashler Lodge and Scottish Rite Colville Lodge, member of the Glzeh Temple, Nanaimo and Parksville-Quallicum Shrine Clubs. Against all odds he bled Blue as a faithful fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. The family would like to thank the Special People on the First floor of the hospital, and the Birch Wing of Dufferin Place. Bill will forever live in the hearts and memories of his family and friends. A Celebration of Bill’s life will take place at the Cavalotti Lodge, 2060 East Wellington Road on Friday, February 20, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. Arrangements confidently assigned to
