SKARBO, Wayne Theodore “Wayner”

passed away at home December 7, 2002 age 55 years, surrounded by his loving family after a brave and courageous 4 month battle with Leukemia. Beloved husband, father, Papa and friend, he is survived by his wife Rosemary, daughter Tracie (Robert), son David (Jaime), two wonderful grandsons Austin and Dylan, father Arne, brothers Ben and Barry, as well as numerous extended family. He is predeceased by his mother Theresa and his brother Joe. Wayne worked for Telus for 30 years and had just retired. He enjoyed the outdoors, his home and garden, being on the golf course and, most of all, spending time with his family. He dedicated much of his time through the years to coaching little league baseball and soccer and was also involved with local Cubs and Scouts when his son was younger. As a devoted Papa to Austin, he spent time cheering for his grandson at many t-ball, soccer and BMX races. Wayne also believed in giving the gift of Life to others and he did so numerous times by donating blood to the Red Cross and being on the Bone Marrow doner list. He will be forev er remembered and deeply missed by his family and friends. Wayne was one of God’s finest, blessing the lives of each and every one who knew him. Mass will be celebrated on Monday December 16, 2002 at 1:00pm at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 301 Machlary St., Nanaimo, Father Derek Zarebski. Celebrant; to be immediately fol lowed by “Celebration of Life” at Cavallotti Hall, 2060 East Wellington Road., Nanaimo, In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Wayne’s memory to the Leukemia and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Vancouver General
