It is with a heavy heart that the family announces the passing of our mum, nana on November 30, 2004 at Nanaimo Regional Hospital. Velia was born in Venice, Alberta on August 15, 1920. She is survived by her loving daughter Marie (Pete) Swithin, granddaughter Leanne Frech (Greg Grayson) of Nanaimo, grandson Brad (Jackie) Swithin of Tiawan, great grandson Morgan Frech and great granddaughter Emma Swithin, brother Sam (Marg) Beldessi of Lake Cowichan and other relatives and many friends. Velia came to Nanaimo at the age of 8 with her family and operated a large farm at the north end of Bowen Road. Velia met the love of her life Sam and they were married for 64 years. Sam passed away on September 12, 2004 a mere 2 1/2 months apart. There will be no service at mum’s request. If friends so wish a donation may be made to the Nanaimo S.P.C.A. or Walkers Animal Rescue Centre would be appreciated.
It will be the little things
That we will remember
The quiet moments, the smiles,
The hugs, the laughter, the
Shopping trips,
The homemade pies
And although it may seem
hard right now,
It will be the memory of
these things that will help us push away the pain
And bring the smiles back again
