In loving memory ~

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Troy Fredrick Woodburn Thorsell Gerlock. Born during a snowy storm on February 29, 1976, at Nanaimo Regional Hospital, Troy was a leap-year baby who brought joy and laughter into the lives of all who knew him.

Troy is survived by his cherished children, Saige and Mateo; his loving mother, Julie (Greg); his fathers, Gord Gerlock (Shannon) and Fred Thorsell (Betty); his sister, Ashlee (Ray); his stepsiblings, Patrick (Jodi), Sarah (Serkan), and Charlie; Nana, Shirley Intermela; and his adored nephews and nieces. His memory will also be held dear by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, whose lives he touched with his kind heart and infectious humour.

From a young age, Troy faced many challenges, yet he navigated these with remarkable resilience, always maintaining a kind smile and quick wit. Remembered as a sweet, kind, and helpful soul, Troy effortlessly stole the hearts of those around him. His humour was unforgettable, and he dedicated himself to lifting spirits and spreading laughter wherever he went.

Troy lived his life with open arms and an open heart, embodying compassion and acceptance. He did not judge but rather embraced everyone with understanding and empathy.

As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his spirit and the indelible mark he left on our lives. Troy's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever resonate with those who were fortunate enough to have met him.

The entire family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Dufferin Place and Bill's Place for their exceptional care and unwavering support provided to Troy over the years. Their profound kindness and the beautiful love they showed him have been deeply appreciated.
