MCINNES, Thomas (Albert) passed away March 13, 2003 at Oak Bay Lodge in Victoria, B.C. Albert was born March 7, 1923 at Shortdale, Manitoba. Albert went to school in Kelvington, Saskatchewan and worked in Sturgis Saskatchewan for the C.N.R. Railway. Albert joined the Air Force in the early 40s and served until 1946 on the west coast on an air sea rescue boat named The Chilco. In 1946, Albert went to work for B.C. Tel and worked as storeman for 38 years, retiring in 1983. Also in 1946, Albert married Ellen Smith. Ellen passed away in 1992. Albert lived in Nanaimo from 1994 to 2001 at Long Lake Chateau and Berwick Lodge. Albert enjoyed going to the pool at Beban Park. After Albert retired, Albert and Ellen would go to Arizona in their motor home and truly enjoyed it with their many friends. Albert was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, a Legion member for 50 years, and a current member of Pro Pats Legion in Victoria. When in Nanaimo, Albert was a member of Legion Branch 256. Also a proud member of BCAA for over 50 years. Albert will be sadly missed by his sister Vera Troxell and nephew Gary in Victoria, his brother and sister-in-law Gordon and Annette in Nanaimo, and several nieces and nephews. Albert enjoyed hockey games and baseball games. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Mount Benson Funeral Home, 125 Wallace Street, Nanaimo, B.C. with reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations in Albert’s memory to the B.C. Heart Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
