THOMAS HOWIE WALLACE

May 18, 1937 - August 22, 2008


It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of a loving son, husband, dad, papa, brother, and friend to many. Thomas was born in Glasgow, Scotland and grew up in Anderson. He served in the Royal Navy from 1958-1960. Then went on to be a welder by trade working at Fairfield shipyards perfecting his skills. Moved to Canada in 1964 , arriving in Toronto ON. Thomas found work at Kodak, then went onto the Ford Motor plant in Oakville ON. With a deep

passion for the ocean Thomas and his wife Mary moved to B.C. in 1972. He continued his trade with BC Hydro, City of Parksville, and finally retiring with the Nanaimo School Board. A big fan of soccer his favorite team was the Glasgow Rangers. Thomas loved boats and fishing with hopes of always catching a fish bigger than the last catch. As a Master

Mason he was a proud member of Nanaimo Lodge No. 110. Thomas is survived by his mother Jean Howie Wallace, his loving wife of 48 years Mary, his sisters Jeanette, Irene and brother William. Thomas and Mary's children William(Cathy),Kenneth(Joanne), Heather (Stephen). Their grandchildren Victoria, Jon, Brandon, Holly and Scott. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 4235 Departure Bay Rd., Nanaimo B.C. on Friday, September 12 at 2:00 pm followed by tea at the church hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Kidney Foundation of Canada.
