GOGO, Theodora Maria (Dodie) nee Gubbels
April 13, 1932 – December 1, 2008, Nanaimo, BC
The family is saddened to announce the passing of Dodie, predeceased by husband Ken in 2002, brothers Lawrence and Tony.
Dodie leaves behind her children Marie (Jayeson), John (Sara), Joe (Connie), Lawrence (Vicki), Ann (Doug), Tommy (Diane) and Paul (Tracy-Lyn). Grandchildren Carli, Jena, Jeri, Priscilla, Clarissa, Clayton, Hudson, Montana and Hunter will always cherish their family gatherings at the “Milton Hilton” filled with music, laughter and love. Dodie will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Marie and Elizabeth, brothers Cleo, Gerard, Peter, Joe, John, Tom, Fred, Cousin Cleo, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dodie’s music career began at age 12 in Victoria at Sacred Heart Parish where she played the organ for 13 years. Dodie received an ARCT Diploma in piano. Newly married to Ken, Dodie moved to Nanaimo where she was recently honored for 50 years of continuous service for her music ministry at St. Peter’s Parish. With Ken, her music expanded into the arts and community.
Dodie touched many lives with her gift of music and her wonderful sense of humor.
A celebration of Dodie’s life will be held December 29, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Mount St Peters Church in Nanaimo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rainbow of Hope, c/o Joe Gubbels.
