BERROW -Sydney Charles

passed away peacefully on October 25, 2005 at Nanaimo hospital, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Pre-deceased by his son Steve, sisters Barbara and Louise and sister-in-law Marg. Syd will be deeply missed by his loving wife and friend Marie, sons Carl (Janet) and Cam, daughter Jaye (Lowell), brothers, Wilf (Marg), Ernie (Barb), and Rusty, grandchildren, Leland, Bodrie, Jackson, Jordan, Carter, Lucas and great grandchildren McRae and Ashley. Born July 7, 1928 in Duncan and raised in Cowichan Station, Syd worked in the coastal forest industry his entire working life. One of his greatest joys in life was the special relationship he shared with Jackson, Jordan, Carter and Lucas, especially his precious time fishing on Westwood Lake with Jordan. Typical of Syd, his mischievious sense of humour remained until the end. Syd was a humble, honest and caring family man, volunteering much time at Kiwanis Lodge and was a long time member of the Moose Lodge. Syd had many friends and enjoyed playing crib weekly with the Bowen Park Sr's. Crib League. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Nanaimo Hospital, Dr. Spry, Syd's brother Ernie and to his niece Debbie. An informal celebration of life was held at the Moose Hall on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital - Palliative Care Unit. GONE FISHING!
