Stewart Johnston passed away peacefully on May 22 in Parksville.

He was one of a few people born in Anyox, B.C. Stewart and family moved to Copper Cliff, Ontario where Stewart grew up playing many sports. During WW2 he served in the RCAF. After the war he moved back out west and attended UBC but work called him to Nanaimo to be employed with Harmac. He also met and married Catherine Bo. They had 3 children, Chris, Mark and Kelly. After many years at Harmac Stewart went back to school at University of Victoria and obtained his teaching degree teaching at John Bars by Jr High for many years until his retirement. Stewart kept busy assisting with Track and Field and other sports.

Stewart also enjoyed his woodworking making some very nice furniture and doll houses for his grandchildren and others. He did maintenance projects and painting at the 256 Legion. His running of the coffee fund and turning a very good profit was greatly enjoyable to him. The profits went back into the legion and towards dinners for coffee fund members.

Stewart is survived by 3 children 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Legion 256

on June 16th at 1PM
