Sonia June BRUNT

May 22, 2003

Sonia passed away peace-fully at home after a short, courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 74. Born in Drumheller, Alberta on June 7, 1928, Sonia moved to Nanaimo at the age of nine.

Predeceased by her parents Anthony and Milka, Sonia is survived by her sister Seka (Jack) Watson, loving husband Ray, sons Rick (Melva), Kim (Catherine) and grandsons Mac, Danny, Ryan and Sheldon. Sonia lived most of her adult life in Nanaimo other than a 6-year residence in Lake Cowichan where she and Ray ran a jewelry store. She started her working career at the Bank of Montreal in Nanaimo and retired from City Hall in 1990.

Sonia’s zest for life and love for family and friends was legendary. The many visits, calls and kind words from family and friends during her illness, as well as the support of Nanaimo’s hospital and home medical care community are greatly appreciated.

We all will miss her dearly and trust Sonia’s spirit will continue to guide us in passing as she did in life.

Flowers are gratefully declined in lieu of donations to the Nanaimo Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer Association. The family invites you to share Sonia’s memory at a service to be held at Beban Park Complex, 2300 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, commencing at 2 p.m. Friday, May 23rd

with refreshments to follow.
