Born in 1935, passed away after a long struggle with cancer on May 7, 2010. She was predeceased by her sons: Kenneth Nolan Ramsay, and David Charles Ramsay.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of almost 55 years, Gordon Beacher Ramsay; children: Bob (Suzanne), Gerry (Charlene), Karen (George) Compton; grandchildren: Nolan (Samantha), Evan (Mikaela), Amanda (Matthew) McDonald, Cori, Tyrell, Tristan, Courtney and Dalton Ramsay, Jessica and Geordie Compton; great grandchild, Ruby McDonald, and cousin June Truscott.

Shirley loved to cook for family and friends, always more than enough food for all. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, golfing, traveling, singing in church choirs and playing the piano. She belonged to the Nanoose Seniors floor curling, and Qualicum Legion Crib. She was always quick to help others in need.

Shirley enjoyed being a stay at home Mom, but found work to fill her spare time as a free-lance writer for the Times Colonist, interviewing Coal Miners for the Malaspina Library, stenographer, and she took classes from time to time at Malaspina College.

A Memorial Service will be held May 17, 2010 at 10:00 am at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 Newcastle Avenue, Nanaimo, BC. Interment will follow at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens at 1:00 pm.
