JONES, Samuel Douglas (Doug) -
born in Newcastle Emlyn Wales, passed away December 11, 2002 at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife Betty of 48 years, sister Catherine, niece Wendy, nephew Keith and many brother and sisters in law. Doug served in the Royal Naval Air Army from April 1945 until May 1947 and held the rank as S/Lieutenant (A) (AE). Doug also was the Past President of the Nanaimo North Rotary Club, a Free Mason and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #257 Lantzville, Past Member of the Malaspina University College Foundation and a member of the Nanaimo Golf Club. Doug was very active in the community and had a terrific sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at St. Philips by the Sea Anglican Church in Lantzville on Monday, December 16, 2002, at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Doug’s memory to the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Foundation.
