Smith, Ruth Evelyn
Passed away peacefully on June 12, 2006 with family by her side in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Richard (Dick) and her daughter Barbara. Left to miss her are her sons: Arthur (Leona), Don (Mary), son-in-law George (Marielle), grandchildren: Larry (Pam), Laurie (Brad), Cathy (Edwin), Donna (Bob), Christine (Colin), step-grandchildren: Kelsey, Shelby, great-grandchildren: Claudia, Lenn, Spencer, numerous nieces, nephews, and people dear to her heart: Geraldine (Larry), Ken and Linda and their family.
Ruth was born in Strathmore, Alberta, June 17, 1920. She met and married Dick April 29, 1939 in Nanaimo and then moved to Victoria and later to Penticton. In 1956, the family moved back to Nanaimo where Ruth worked for the original Scotch Bakery, Coast Oil Burners, and finally Sears where she retired in the early 1970's. She and Dick enjoyed many years of boating with the Fiddler II and later the Zorra II. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and neighbours.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm, June 16, 2006 at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 Newcastle Ave, Nanaimo, BC. Reception to follow.
