Rose Giesbrecht - It is with great sadness and aching hearts that we announce the passing of this life of our Mom, Rose Edna Giesbrecht (nee Evans). Mom fought with amazing strength but lost her battle on January 27, 2010. Tiny but tough. Her greatest joys were her children Angie (Wayne Mercier), Jason, and Crissy (Dan Denker), and her grandchildren (her little sweeties) Sophie (6), Jack (3) and Claire (2). Mom loved to cook for us, talk with us, hug us and just be with us. Mom was a kind and special lady who touched all who knew her.

She was born on February 20, 1946 in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan to Edna and Raymond Evans (one of fifteen children). After numerous moves between Saskatchewan and the lower mainland of BC, Mom made the move to Nanaimo, BC where she spent eleven happy years surrounded by many friends and the love of her family.

As it was Mom’s wish to not have a funeral service, her children and grandchildren will celebrate her life privately. Please toast Mom’s life and remember her on February 20th, which would have been her 64th birthday. She would like that. Bye Mom. Bye Grandma. We love you and we miss you, and we know that wherever you’re headed you’ll be gumbootin’ it. xxoo
