WATKINS, Ronald

Born in Reading, England December 19th, 1906, passed away peacefully March 11th, 2003 in Dufferin Place, Nanaimo. Predeceased by his loving wife Eleanor in 2000, also brother Fred and sister Joy. Sadly he leaves his brother Gordon (Vera) Nanaimo, his daughter Marilynn (Marvin) Mason, Campbell River, daughter Sharon (Jim) Young, Nanaimo; five grandchildren: Denise (Dave) Stewart, Shelley (Jeff) Cox, Campbell River; Kevin Young, Derek (Tamara) Young, Narissa Young (Scott Robertson), Nanaimo; fourteen great-grandchildren: Kimberley, Matthew, Ryan, Emily, Graham, Duncan, and Nicholas, Campbell River, Hayley, Colton, Brittany, Elijah, Liam, Chelsea, and Marshall, Nanaimo; also cousins, nieces and nephews. Ronald moved his family from Edmonton to Nanaimo in 1946, where he was active in Church and community affairs in Chase River, until moving to Campbell River in 1987. Ronald worked on the construction of the Harmac Pulp Mill, and then he was employed there until he retired in 1971. He enjoyed his family, stamp collecting, carpentry, bowling, fishing, camping and cribbage. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14th at 1 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2424 Glen Eagle Crescent, Nanaimo. Interment to follow at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Fund of BC would be appreciated. Arrangements by Telford’s Mortuary, 716-5525, or 245-5553
