It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Robert Norman Olsen who passed away on June 19, 2017 in Nanaimo British Columbia. Robert was born to Norwegian immigrants on September 10, 1934 in Bella Coola, British Columbia. He later moved with his family to Nanaimo where he grew up with his five brothers and three sisters. In 1951 at the age of 17 he started a successful career at Eaton’s department store where he went on to manage stores in Duncan, Abottsford, and finally back in Nanaimo where he retired in 1993 at the age of 59. Robert was dearly beloved by his surviving wife Regina and four children Karen, Robert (Bob), Kirsten, and Norm, and their families. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt throughout British Columbia. Robert was devoted to his family and his Christian faith, both of which saw him through good times and bad, including the passing of son Bob earlier this year. Robert requested that no funeral be held. His remains will be cremated as per his wishes.
