Robert (Rick) Brough, W.), CD (Ret.) on September 11, 2008, after a long hard fought battle with diabetes and kidney disease. Rick passed away to a more peaceful existence, freed at last from daily dialysis. Rick was born in Scotland in 1928. After graduating high school, he apprenticed in Yarrow's shipyard, and was later a shipping clerk for Cunard White Star Lines. In 1949 he enlisted in the British Army (R.A.S.C.) transferring on 1953 to the Army Physical Training Corps, where he instructed, officiated and coached many sports. Much of this period of time was spent in Malaya where he was mentioned in dispatches. In 1960, Rick and his family came to Canada serving 20 years with the Canadian Forces at Camp Borden, CFB London, CFB Petawawa, all in Ontario. He also served in Germany, CFS, Alert in the Arctic, his last posting being CFB Esquimalt. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Lillian Brough. Rick leaves to mourn his wife of 54 years Irene, whom he called the "Love of his Life", son David, daughter Yvonne, grandchildren: Dave Jr., Morgan and Madison, all of who he was very proud and loved deeply, sisters-in-law: Valerie Killworth and Diane Taplin, brothers-in-law: Jack, Trevor and Bill, all of who were highly regarded. Rick was a man of great integrity, "his word was his bond". He was held in high esteem by his military comrades and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A celebration of Rick's life to be announced later. (Private cremation). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Canadian Diabetic Association.
