Bob is predeceased by his wife, Mabel, and grandson, Michael. His daughter, Robyn; grandson, Stephen (Paula); great granddaughter Tiffany; brother, Jack; relatives and friends celebrate his life.

Bob was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec. He served his country as a tail gunner in World War 11, then moved with his family to Vancouver. Bob married in 1945 and relocated to Nanaimo in 1949. In his time in Nanaimo, he was the owner of a service station, a referee of Junior and Minor hockey, a player for the original Clippers, President of Minor Hockey, a curler, the first captain of the present Nanaimo Golf Club. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and an early member of the Nanaimo Fish and Game Club. As well, he was one of the first RCMP auxiliary officers and a volunteer to the Fire Department. Bob left Nanaimo in 1970 and moved to Vernon where he continued to referee hockey and golf. He became a

dedicated member of AA where he made many friends both in Canada and the US, he bought a concrete business, which he then moved to Kamloops. Upon retirement, he and Mabel moved back to Vernon. After Mabel’s passing, Bob returned to Nanaimo to be close to his family. Bob always lived life to the fullest, enjoyed his family, friends and activities. He had many close friends and never forgot a name. He was generous to all, and available to those who called on him. He lived his last year at the Nanaimo Seniors Village under the wonderful care and attention of the staff. His family is grateful for all the support they gave to Bob.


A celebration of his life will be held at the Bowen Park Centre, Activity Room #1, 500 Bowen Rd., Nanaimo at 12:45 Saturday, Sept. 23rd, 2006. Light refreshments will follow a service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, Suite 300-828 W 8th Vancouver BC V5Z 1E2 would be gratefully appreciated.
