Murfitt,

Reginald Findlay

Reginald Findlay Murfitt (born in Penticton on May 8, 1924) passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2017 in Nanaimo, surrounded by his grandchildren and family. Reg was predeceased by his loving wife Irene Elizabeth (nee Gates), and his eldest son Allan William Murfitt. He is survived by four sons: Brian, Graham, Warren, and Ian; ten grandchildren: Rob, Adrian, Aaron, Anton, Hilary, Ryan, Amélie, Leiagh, Lucy, and Alison; and 6 great-grandchildren: Tessa, Jonas, Antoine, Raphaëlle, Parker, and Lili Maxine.

In his youth Reg was a very talented violinist, and music continued to be the central pillar in his balanced state of mind and well being. He was a lifelong season ticket holder to both symphony and opera performances and was in attendance right up until the very last live screening of the Metropolitan Opera in Nanaimo.

Reg had a distinguished career as a civil engineer involving projects across Canada and overseas in Indonesia and Africa. He and Irene traveled the world, had countless amazing friends, and lived a fulfilled rich life. His wit, knowledge, creativity, and incredible memory will be sorely missed by the many who loved him. We know that Reg had boundless enthusiasm for the outdoors that he will surely be enjoying now...

Happy trails Mr. Murfitt!
