NORMAN OLIVER FAGANELLO

April 17, 2017

Faganello, Norman Oliver

February 15, 1940 – April 17, 2017

After a year long fight following his stroke in May 2016, Norm passed away peacefully at Malaspina Gardens in Nanaimo.

Norm was predeceased by his father Raymond Faganello, his mother Mildred Evelyn (Munro) Faganello and his oldest daughter Gina Lynne Faganello. He leaves behind his devoted wife Brenda Jean (Perrett) Faganello; children Rick (Julie), Kim (Melanie), Rena (David) Moore, Shane (Sheri), Shannon (Terry) Mayer, Jodi. He has 17 grandchildren plus 3 great-grandchildren, two brothers Grant (Mona), Ron (Alice), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Norm loved his hockey, especially the Vancouver Canucks. Everyone in the house knew when a game was being played by the volume of the yelling from the front room. Players, coaches and referees received equal shares of his coaching.

Norm took great satisfaction in cutting wood to use in the wood stove to heat our home through the winter. Fishing at Spider Lake was not often successful, however, he enjoyed it and the many people he met while there. His chickens supplied his family and friends with fresh and tasty eggs. Norm loved having company come to visit his home as long as they wanted.

In recent years, Norm and Jean have thoroughly enjoyed opening their home to cats and kittens waiting for adoption. In the two years before Norm’s stroke they also fostered two Vancouver Island Compassion dogs.

Although not often expressed by “I love you’s”, Norm took great pride in his children’s accomplishments, always sharing their success with anyone who would listen.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to either the Qualicum Cat Rescue or Vancouver Island Compassion dogs.
