Norman Loren Thomas

Norm passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side.

He was born in Wellington (Nanaimo) and lived all his adult life in Nanaimo. Norm was married in April 1961 is survived by his wife Yvonne (nee Morris) and one daughter Lori and her husband Christopher McWillis.

He is predeceased by his parents Florent and Marguerite Thomas, and sister Jean (Sinclair).

Norm worked for Canada Safeway in Nanaimo for 20 years and then another 20 years at Nanaimo Co-op.

He loved music and played in a band for many dances and private clubs in Nanaimo. He then passed his love of music on by teaching piano and organ to his many students young and old.

Norm loved people and was an active volunteer for the Elks, and then the Legion 256 and Cavalotti Lodge for many years.

Everyone who knew him, knew his love of cars, especially his caddy’s. In particular his sky blue convertible he drove everywhere, but only in good weather.

He lived a wonderful long life, full of family, camping, music and walked many miles with his loyal German shepherd by his side.

He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer for over 10 years. And we send a special thank you to all the doctors, specialists , nurses and others who have helped Norman over his years.

Norm requested no services although there will be a celebration of life at a later date. Please consider donations be made to the BC Cancer society or charity of your choice

Norm was the best husband and dad. He was always cheerful and happy.
