Mildred, Melissa (nee Chadwick) PALMER

PALMER, Mildred Melissa (nee Chadwick), born November 10. 1919 in Aquadell, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully at home in Nanaimo, BC on January 12, 2003. Predeceased by her husband Neil in August 2002; mother, Mildred Elizabeth Chadwick; father, William Henry Chadwick; brothers Jim, George and Harvey Chadwick and sister Gloria Chadwick. Left behind to cherish her memory are six children - Jim Palmer, Chipman, Alberta; Sharon Siebring, Duncan, BC; Ann Thomas, Parksville, BC; Wesley Palmer, Nanaimo, BC; Lloyd Palmer, Cedar, BC and Barbara Palmer, Nanaimo, BC and spouses; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters - Phyl lis Brawner, Ladysmith, BC; Joan Robertson, Nanaimo, BC; Faye Kerr, Nanaimo, BC; Melva Grant, Quesnel, BC; brothers- Mervin Chadwick, Chemainus, BC; Murray Chadwick, Ladys mith, BC and Stuart Chadwick, Ladysmith, BC and their beloved spouses. Mildred spent her childhood years living on the prairies of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. A lover of horses, she spent many hours riding through the hills. She served as a civilian member of the RCAF during WWII in Brandon, Manitoba and Estevan, Saskatchewan. She met Neil in Marquis, Saskatchewan and they married November 11, 1946. Working alongside Neil, in two businesses, they lovingly raised their family. They became residents of Nanaimo in 1969 whereupon were immediately drawn to the ocean and the Piper’s Lagoon area. She enjoyed playing cards and laughing with all her family and friends. All who knew her will sorely miss her. Special thanks for their strength, patience and as sistance go to Dr. R. Price, Rosemary, Dr. Stronge, the sixth floor nursing staff at NRGH, Mary, Holly, all of the Home care nurses especially Holly and Sandra and Home care attendants Evelyn, Clare, Marilyn, Sandi, Dorothy and Karen. At her request, there will be no service. A Celebration of Mildred’s life will be held February 1, 2003 from 1-4 PM in St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall, 1135 4th Avenue, Ladysmith, BC. Private cremation arrangements entrusted to First Memorial Funeral Services.
