In loving memory ~

1960 to 2024

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Mike, who left this world unexpectedly on January 17th, 2024. As he crossed the threshold to the heavens, he was welcomed by his mother, Marie, and son, Brett.

A true patriarch, Mike, 63, leaves behind a legacy of love as the adored husband of Kathy, the cherished father of sons Ryan and Trevor, and the doting grandfather of little Beau. His familial embrace extends to his brothers, Rob and Joe, in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.

Mike lived a rich and fulfilling life, leaving a positive impact on his family, friends, and community. His passion for sports, particularly basketball and later golf, highlights his dedication to both physical activity and building lasting connections with others. The connections made demonstrated the lasting impact of his friendly personality and charisma.

Mike's family was a central focus in his life, and his support for his sons' endeavours, whether in basketball or BMX, showcased in his unwavering dedication to their success and happiness.

His 40-year career with the Nanaimo Port Authority, starting as a summer student and rising to the position of Chief Operations Officer, underscores his dedication and hard work.

Mike was a dedicated player, a supportive teammate, and a true champion as a father, brother and husband. His legacy is not just in the victories he celebrated but the love he shared, the lessons he taught and the kindness he bestowed upon us all.

Let us carry forward the spirit of passion and loyalty he exemplified in both life and sports.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in Nanaimo on May 5th, 2024, 1:00 - 3:00 pm.
