GARRETT, Merna Ruth (nee McMullen) passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2004 after a lengthy illness bravely fought. Mom was born in Alberta on January 5, 1923. She was 81 years old. Predeceased by her loving husband Charles (Chuck); granddaughter Erin Garrett; twin sister Marie; brothers Howard and Clifford and her son-in-law Bob. Forever loved by her daughter Dianne Magor; granddaughters Brittany and Lauren of Qualicum Beach, BC. Her son Chuck Garrett (Martha); grandchildren Jacob and Sarah of Victoria, BC; son Jim Garrett; grandchildren Merrilee, Holly, Carley and Jeffrey of Victoria, BC. Lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews and many friends. Dearly missed by her childhood friend Mary Harris of Abbotsford, BC and her friend Meryl Anderson of Nanoose Bay. Special thanks to her kind neighbours in the Camcrest neighbourhood who really cared for mom. Deepest gratitude to Dr. Vreede for her care. Thanks to the TLC team for their care and concern for mom and Nanaimo Hospice for their support. Mom was a loving mom, grandma, aunt, sister and friend. She taught us to be happy, positive and to see the humour in life.

A Memorial Celebration to be held on Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the home of her daughter Dianne, 590 Nassau Crescent, Qualicum Beach, BC at 1:30 p.m. Pick-up available from BC Ferrries. In lieu of flowers, donations in mom’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Cremation.
