Mary Leona Bell (aka Leona, nee Beaulieu) of Nanaimo, British Columbia, passed away peacefully with family members by her side on Sunday, Nov 5, 2017 at Dufferin Place.

Born in Bathurst New Brunswick on December 14, 1922, to Arthur and Laura Beaulieu, she was 94 years old.

Leona left New Brunswick at a young age, moving first to Quebec City and a few years later, migrating to British Columbia. In Vancouver she met and married John A. Bell (aka Jack, 1928-1988). 

Leona is survived by her only daughter, Carole, her only grand-daughter, Michelle, her five great-grand-children, her sister Evangeline Boulet (aka Van) of Nanaimo and her sister-in-law, Agnes Beaulieu of White Rock.

Leona will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and their spouses who were always welcome at Leona's table.

Leona loved to travel and she was proud to have visited many corners of the world. She was a frequent passenger aboard Princess Cruises. British Columbia never had a more enthusiastic goodwill ambassador.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Nanaimo on Thursday, November 30, 2017.

The mass will start at 11 AM, followed by a luncheon and commemoration of Leona's life in the church hall afterwards. St. Peter's is located at 301 Machleary Street, Nanaimo.

The family requests no flowers. Any donations in Leona's memory can be made to a charity of your choice or to St. Peter's Catholic Church.
