BITTLE, Mary Fiona (nee Stuart)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Mary Fiona Bittle (nee Stuart) in her 79th year. Mom was the last surviving member of her immediate family, the W.H. Stuart family, early pioneers of Cobble Hill, BC. She was predeceased by her brothers, Walter, Jack and Paul Stuart, sister Dorothy Braun, nephew Michael Stuart and grandnephew Jason Stuart. Mom lost her beloved Fred in October 2005 after 54 devoted years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters Eileen Bittle of Victoria, BC; Jane Oatman ( Alan Davlut) of London, Ontario; and granddaughter Melodie Davlut of Denver, Colorado. Also survived by nephews Howard (Dianne) and family of Norcross, Georgia; Stuart Goddard (Maureen Lennon) of Cobble Hill; Neil Stuart (Joanne) and family of Cobble Hill; Roy Stuart (Barbara) and family of Victoria; niece Jean Hamilton (Rodger) and family of Cobble Hill and great nephew Hamish Stuart of Whistler, BC. Mom resided in Saltair for 54 years, and impacted all those she came in contact with by encouraging lively discussions of politics and current affairs. She was an avid reader, appreciated classical music and the CBC, English literature, history, gardening and the outdoors.
Arrangements have been made by Telford's Mid-Island Memorial Services. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC, and/or the Saving of Echo heights, Chemainus, BC. Many thanks to Dr. Archekin and the fine Nursing team of the 3rd floor of the Cowichan District Hospital; Mustapha, Daljit, Caroline. Kerry, Eva, Pauline and Louise, for the wonderful care they gave to Mom and the kindness extended to us.
