MARSHALL H. BUTCHER

August 18, 1921 ~ November 28, 2009

It’s with great sadness we announce the passing of Marshall. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Born in Swift Current, Sask., he grew up there and went on to become a teacher and taught in many schools there. In 1967 Marshall moved the family to Nanaimo where he began teaching at John Barsby until 1978 when he retired.

Marshall loved doing new things. He took up skiing in his Fifties and skied every weekend with his boys. He also loved travelling and went many places including China.

Predeceased by wife Joyce in 1968 and son-in-law Wally in 2009. He is survived by sister Mary, brother Orlando, daughter Susan, sons John (Shelley); Robert; Willy (Lorraine) and his 8 grandchildren.

Special thanks to all the staff at Travellers Lodge for the wonderful care you gave Dad.

A come and go tea will be held December 10, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 4235 Departure Bay Rd.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Nanaimo Travellers Lodge building fund.
