Marjorie Edith (nee McBratney) PENRICE

October 6, 2008

Marjorie Edith Penrice  was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, October the sixth at the age of eighty-four. She was predeceased by her adoring husband, Jack Penrice, daughters Marlene and Jill, son-in-law Bill Pickerill and sister’s Geraldine and Muriel. Left to mourn are her beloved children Barrie Penrice (Janet), Theresa Irwin (Bill), Darlene Pickerill-Andrews (Guy) and Jack Penrice. She also leaves twenty-three precious grand and great-grandchildren, sisters May Shea (Bob), Gwen Fraser and Genevieve Forsey, as well as nieces and nephews.

Born to Grace (nee Robins) and Charles McBratney, Marjorie grew up on a farm in Three Hills. Alberta, and attended Mount Royal College. She was wooed and whisked out West by her husband Jack in 1945. They worked hard together to raise their family and always made life fun with camping trips and picnics at third beach. Their home in Vancouver, was always a hub of activity with kids, borders, family and friends. Marjorie was faithful in taking her children to Marpole Baptist Church as she wanted them to learn about Jesus. As her family grew, she worked part-time at Woodward’s. Leaving the city behind, Marjorie and Jack moved to Gabriola Island in 1974. Marjorie loved being involved with the Kid’s Club at the Gabriola Fellowship Church. She and Jack would fish in the summertime and head south to Yuma in the winter. They will always be remembered as kind, generous people who gave to others in need. When Jack died in 2004, Marjorie remained on the Island and was blessed to have incredible friends and neighbors who helped her maintain her independence. She was a remarkable woman and her love, positive attitude and devotion to her God and family were inspiring. Marjorie will not be forgotten as her legacy lives on in her very reason for living, her family.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.”

II Corinthians, Chapter 5.
