McKenzie, Marion Rutherford
Marion Rutherford McKenzie, formerly of Sussex England passed away peacefully on Thursday March 02, 2017 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital with her dear friends at her side. Marion came to Canada in 1968 and would eventually marry Phil McKenzie, who passed away in 1997. She was also predeceased by, her British family, including parents Jim and May Rutherford, sister Margaret, brothers Joe and Jack, and sister-in-law Pam.
Marion started in health care at the age of 16, in the (QAs) Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps for 10 years, eventually reaching the rank of Major. In Canada, she held various positions at NRGH, then became Administrator at Arrowsmith Long Term Care Facility, followed by Arranglen LTCF. She retired early due to ill health, and later spent time as a dog companion/care giver mostly in the Parksville/Qualicum area. She enjoyed playing bridge and scrabble, travelling, and dry British Humor.
Marion will be missed by her many human and four-legged friends. In lieu of flowers, please make a small donation at your local SPCA. No formal service will be held by request.
