“Forever in our Hearts”

MARION RUTH JONES (Stanley)

January 5, 1923 ~ June 3, 2010

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Marion Jones. Born and raised in Rosetown, Saskatchewan. During the war, Marion lived in Toronto and worked in a war plant, assembling Bren gun triggers, after which she relocated to Vancouver where she spent the next 35 years working at Vancouver General Hospital. After retiring, Marion and her husband moved to Parksville and eventually made Nanaimo their home. Marion had a passion for handcrafts and was always looking for and sharing new ideas with family and friends. After losing her battle with cancer, Marion passed away, peacefully, with family at her side, Thursday morning, at the Palliative Care Unit, Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Marion is survived by her husband of 37 years, Robert (Bob) Jones; step-daughters: Melinda Jones, Abbotsford, Mary Weightman (Fred), Nanaimo, Georgina Duigistini (Tom), Abbotsford; 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and other extended family members; her sisters: Grace, Margaret and Helen, Rosetown, Saskatchewan, Elaine, Calgary, Alberta and all their families, and let us not forget Mitzy her beloved cat. Marion will be missed, but leaves behind a milestone of good and loving memories for all of us to share.

Her family wishes to thank all the staff at the Palliative Care Unit for their compassion, help and care at this very difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, in Marion’s name, would be greatly appreciated. Memorial will be held at the World of Pentecost Church, 3606 Allsop Rd. (off Jinglepot Rd) on Sunday, June 20th at 1p.m.
