September 11, 1930 - May 12, 2017 (86 years)

Marcien was born on September 11, 1930 in St. Boniface, Manitoba. He grew up on his parents farm with his eight brothers and sisters in St. Labre, Manitoba and moved to Victoria, BC in 1957 to find work. He then settled in Nanaimo, BC, marrying his childhood sweetheart Angeline, also from St. Labre, in 1961. Marcien worked very hard on many construction sites on Vancouver Island and the lower mainland as a cement finisher and welder, often working away from his family for extended periods of time. He retired in 1995. He was a kind and gentle husband and father who enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, helping his wife with the gardening and assisting his sons, Adrien, Michel and David with their various building projects. Marcien also enjoyed visits from his 5 grandchildren. He often returned to his homestead in St. Labre, camping with his family along the way. Marcien passed away peacefully in the palliative care unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on May 12, 2017. He joins his daughter Bernadette in God’s loving embrace. A prayer vigil will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Nanaimo, BC on May 18 at 7:00 PM, with a funeral mass held on May 19, 2017 at 11:00 am. Burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens and reception to follow.
