Kenneth B. Orton

Following a three month illness in Nanaimo and Royal Jubilee Hospital, Ken passed away peacefully on Feb. 28th. He is survived by his wife Joan, and sons Michael (Mary), Gary (Sue), Chris (Bev), Adam and daughter Karen. He is also survived by grandchildren Jeremy (Elisa), Ryan (Jana), Ron, Jeff, Jamie, Aaron, Savannah and Megan and 3 great grandsons, Kyle, Oliver and Jacob.
He was a veteran of the RAF and British Army (Leicestershires), and served in England, Canada and India during WWII. He excelled at wireless communications while a young man, and was one of the early ham radio pioneers. Ken and Joan and Baby Michael emigrated to Canada in 1948 through Ellis Island, New York. Ken worked through the IBEW into his 60’s. He was a respected tradesman and supervisor on numerous projects over the years. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
