After her long struggles, it is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Judy.

Predeceased by her father Alec (1981); sister-in-law, Dianne (2004); niece, Claudia; nephew, Mike and ex-husband, Ray (all 2010). Judy is survived by her mother, Lucie,; daughters: Diana & Linda (Randy) and granddaughter, Savannah. Judy leaves behind, her brother, Bill (Vickie); sister, Louise (Murray); nieces: Kim (Shane) and Camilla (Jay); her family and friends from the Island and Lower Mainland.

Born in Vancouver, Judy moved to Qualicum Beach with her family in 1949 and became a resident of the Island for the rest of her life. Graduating from Qualicum Beach High School, Judy entered St. Joseph’s Nursing School in Victoria and received her LPN diploma in 1966. After graduation and marriage she moved with her young family from Victoria to Port Alberni before settling in Nanaimo in 1969. There she raised her two daughters; established a long standing career as an Avon representative, from 1977 to her retirement in 2010; and was member of the international sorority of Beta Sigma Phi holding various positions from 1968 – 1979, including president of the local chapter.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank-you to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit for their compassionate care of Judy in her final weeks of life.

A Memorial Tea will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel on Saturday, August 20th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nanaimo Hospice Society (250-758-8857) would be greatly appreciated.
