Jon Henry RICE

May 29, 2004

RICE, Jon Henry

born December 12, 1945, passed away peacefully May 29, 2004 at the age of 58, at his home in Yellow Point with his family around him. A life-long resident of the Yellow Point/Cedar area, Jon was a wonderfully kind man, who loved his family, his community and farming, with a passion. He worked for Hub City Paving from his teens until illness forced his retirement 3 years ago. Jon fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jon is lovingly remembered by his children: Tara (Graham), Kristina (Adam), Colleen (Rudy), Dayle (Mike), and Jon Jr. (Ashley); his brothers and sisters: Margaret (Walter), Mary (Steve), Bill (Marc), Peter (Chris) and Joe (Lori); nieces and nephews, 2 great-nieces; and many friends and community members. He was predeceased by his parents, and brothers Jim, Frank and Dave. A ”Celebration of Life” will be held at the Cedar Community Hall on Saturday, June 5th at 1:00pm. Please come and spend time together. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jon's memory to the N.O.A.H.S. (North Oyster and Area Historical Society, 13467 Cedar Road, Ladysmith, B.C. V9G 1H6) would be very meaningful to his family and community. Special thanks to Dr. Joly, Dr. Love, Home-care nurses, Home-support, and the staff on the 5th Floor at N. R. G. H.
