REMILLARD, JOHN M.

On May 30, 2010, John passed peacefully away with family at his side. John was born March 31, 1921, in Castor, Alberta. He had 12 brothers and sisters. John moved to Nanaimo in 1948, after the war. He had served for Canada in the 3rd Division in the invasion of Normandy. He met Therese in 1949, at a dance at Pleasant ValleyHall; they loved to dance. They fell in love immediately and married on June 17, 1950.

John worked for the Department of Highways on the grader for 37 years. He loved his grader and enjoyed giving kids rides. John retired and he and Therese spent many happy years as snowbirds in Arizona. They spent summers as campground hosts at Rathtrevor and Sprout Lake.

John leaves behind his loving wife of almost 60 years, Therese; daughter, Tanna (Bob) Burrus; son, Clem (Debbie) Remillard; daughter, Jacquie (Randy) Wynans; grandchildren: Adrian (Amanda), Nicole (Micah), Brad (Melanie), Jayme, Stephanie, Miranda (Ian), Matthew and great granddaughter, Naiomi; also 1 sister, Jean Halsall, in Nanaimo, and 1 brother, Andre Remillard in Lacory, Alberta.

The family would like to thank the ER staff and 4th floor staff for the care and kindness John and family received.

There will be a celebration of John’s life on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. Peter’s Church at 1:00p.m., graveside immediately after. A reception to follow at 256 Legion on East Wellington Rd. Everyone welcome. No flowers by request. Donations can be made, in John’s memory, to the Canadian Diabetes Society.

Our Dad had a heart of gold. “We will miss you.”
