Woodcock, Joan

1924-2017

Passed away in her 93rd year on April 12, 2017 in Penticton. Born in Birmingham England and immigrated to Canada in 1948 where she and her husband settled in Nanaimo in the early 1950’s and raised their family. She is survived by her son Mike (Cheryl), daughter Rachel (Alex), grandchildren Veronica (Tim), Brittanie, Duncan, Clare and great granddaughter Lily. Pre-deceased by her husband Frank (2009), son Ross (1980), and daughter Hilary (1950). She also leaves behind her younger sister Barbara and family in England. She was a founding member and soloist with the Malaspina Choir as well as competitor and board member of the Upper Island Musical Festival winning several competitions with her beautiful soprano voice, and for a few years she was involved with the Nanaimo Theatre Group. She worked for many years with the Fish and Wildlife Branch of the B. C. government.
