JOAN VERONICA LEBLANC
Joan passed away quietly with family in Nanaimo General Hospital on March 8th, 2007. Born June 11, 1933 in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Joan was the youngest of nine daughters of Hector and Kathleen MacDonald. Joan was affiliated with the Girl Guides of Canada for many years. She was a past Executive member of Legion Branches 10 & 256 in Nanaimo and was a very active member of the FOE – Aerie 15 in Nanaimo.
Joan is survived by her husband, Don; her two children Sue Waugh (Al) & Wally; her three grandchildren Alyse, Mike & Glen; and many nieces and nephews in Eastern Canada.
A celebration of Joan’s life with family and friends will be held at the Eagles Hall in Nanaimo (245 Fraser Street) on Sunday, March 25th from 2 – 4 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to all the doctors and nurses in ICU. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Society.
