MOORE, James

June 18, 1927 – May 18, 2009

Passed away at the Lodge on Fourth on Monday, May 18th, 2009 at the age of 81. He was predeceased by his loving wife Phyllis in 2006. He will be sadly missed by his children: Carol (Jim), Shirley, Jim (Donna), and Kathy (Marc); grandchildren: Jenn, Mark, Krista, Jim Jr., Tyler, Scott, and Jamie; great-grandchildren: Julia, Devinn, Solace, and Christina. He is also survived by his brothers Garry, Bob, and Billy, sister Gladys, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was born in Nanaimo. He moved to Ladysmith in the 1940's where he met and married mom in Aug. 1949. He began working for Crown Zellerbach as a log scaler in the late 1940's & 1950's, and then proceeded to move on to working for MacMillan Bloedel until 1988 when he retired as Manager of Log Supply in Vancouver. He was a life member of the Kinsmen Club of Ladysmith and also played on a softball team winning the BC Provincial Under 19 Championship in 1946. He served as alderman on Ladysmith's Town Council in the 1960's. Jim loved gardening and going for walks. His greatest joy was his family and playing his accordion, a very gentle and caring man. We wish to thank Dr. Brockley, all the staff at the Lodge on Fourth, and Wingview Seniors Home for their kindness and care they gave to dad. A private family gathering will be held at the Ladysmith Cemetery at a later date.
