It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother on June 30 2017 at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Isabelle was predeceased by her husband John Laurence Oxtoby, her parents Gordon (Gooitzen) Klazes RIENKS and Houkje RIENKS (nee HELLINGA) and one brother, Kornelius Rienks. She is survived by siblings Gertrude, Klaas, Rienk, Sietse and Houkje; children, William, Reginald (Judie), Rodger, Helen (John), John (Karen), Ken (Deborah), Michael, and Betty (Chris); 16 grandchildren: Donald, Christopher, Carla, Sarah, Alyssa, Janine, Kristina, Breanne, Stephan, Thomas, Derek, Alicea, David, Isabella, Claudia and James; 9 great grandchildren, Isabella, Braden, Jack, Sean, Celia, Austin, Arlo, Elena and William. Isabelle was born on Oct 6, 1931 in Winsum, Friesland, Netherlands and emigrated to Canada in 1948. She married John Laurence OXTOBY on Oct 25 1950 at Windthorst, SK. They started a family, moving to Regina in 1955 where they remained until they retired in Nanoose Bay in 1984. Isabelle loved flowers and was a prolific gardener and enjoyed many crafts including sewing, knitting, and spinning and dyeing her own wool.
