Hazel Irene (Laird) (Scollon) Lacharity
August 17, 1920 - May 1, 2017
Hazel passed away peacefully and perfectly in her home May 1, 2017 surrounded by family at the age of 96. Hazel is survived by her son, Garry Scollon (Karen), children, Shauna Chapman, Teddy Scollon and Trevor Scollon; and three daughters, Sheila Scollon, children Denny Ekland, and Rodney Ekland; Lana Entzminger (James), children, Jamey Entzminger, Dayne Entzminger and Danica Entzminger; and Lorna Kirschner (Perry), children Jana Ely, Dessica Kirschner and Logan Kirschner. Also many great grandchildren, a great great granddaughter and sister, Peggy Voysey.
Predeceased by her daughter Trudy Scollon and husband Edward Lacharity, sisters, Verna Laird and Edith Knippshild. Also want to mention her beloved cats Laird and Maki and predeceased dog Val.
Hazel was born in the Swift Current area of Saskatchewan, moved to Vancouver Island in 1947, where she has resided since. Here she loved her family, home, gardening, games, cards, picnics, teacup reading, a cup of tea and desserts.
The family would like to sincerely thank the amazing care from VIHA Home Support and all those that cared for her. Also very special thank you to Dr. Gillis, and granddaughter in-law, Marci Ekland, all which kept her in her home she loved so much.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the SPCA would be greatly appreciated.
