David (Dave)
June 29, 1945 ~ May 22, 2006 ~ Only son of Annie and Darrell Pringle, Dave passed away peacefully at his home in the early morning of Monday, May 22 while being cared for by his wife and friends after a short and courageous struggle with cancer, in his 61st year. Dave lived his life with bravery, grace and wit. He is survived and will be missed by his loving wife of twenty-six years, Elizabeth (Liz). Born in Victoria, Dave grew up on Vancouver Island. He has lived in Nanaimo since the early seventies. Since 1990 he worked and made many friends at Malaspina University College. While there, Dave was involved in OH&S for C.U.P.E., Local 1858. He was also the chair on OH&S for Vancouver Island District Council. Many people enjoyed his frequent and informative OH&S newsletters. He was also requested to join C.U.P.E. Provincial in his OH&S status. Dave worked extremely hard to ensure that everyone at Malaspina University College were provided with the safest work environment possible. Dave enjoyed making wine and beer for his friends and family. He also kept busy with various innovative home improvement and garden projects with Liz. Dave will be missed by “His Gang” and fondly remembered by all those who knew him.
Funeral service will be held Monday, May 29, 2006, 3:00 p.m. at Sands Funeral Chapel, #1 Newcastle Avenue.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Nanaimo SPCA.
