Wilson, George Henry

Passed away December 28, 2011 at 73 years of age and was predeceased by his brother John. George is survived by his loving wife Wendy, his children Colleen (Darren), Bruce (Sandra), Dan (Janet), Brad (Theressa), his brother Art (Linda) as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his very special in-laws the Gueulettes (Henry & Josie, Ron & Leslie, Justin & Andrea, and Brooke). George grew up in Kamloops and Victoria and moved to Nanaimo in his twenties. He attained his private pilot’s license in his thirties, had been a member of the Nanaimo ?Flying Club and also spent many years as a member of the Cranberry Volunteer Fire Department in South Wellington. He was an avid fisherman who loved camping and spent many hours on Horne Lake and the Alberni Inlet. As a very talented lifetime bricklayer, George’s work can be seen in many Nanaimo homes and commercial buildings. George’s bright smile will live on in our memories. A celebration of life will be held January 28 from 1pm to 4pm at the Cranberry Community Centre in South Wellington, 1555 Morden Rd (next to the fire hall). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
