1934 – 2017

Middle son to John Reilly (Imlah) & Johan Jane (MacKay) of Inverness, Scotland, George is predeceased by his father, mother & older brother John (Iain) Gordon Imlah. Celebrating his life is wife of 57 yrs. Aldene (Nicholls), daughters Karen (Duncan Desharnais) & Lorraine (David White), sister-inlaw Rosemary & family, brother Brian (Valerie) & family, much loved grandchildren Skyler & Shondra (White), great grandchildren Kaiya & Jackson (Hedlund), sister-in-law Donna (Gabriel) & family, brother-in-law Brian (Gerrianne) & family. After serving at the RAF Buchan Station (1955-1957), George immigrated to Canada in August 1957 but took his time becoming a Canadian Citizen. At his Citizenship Ceremony in 1994, the judge stated “It took you long enough”. A member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners Local 527 many Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island projects bear George’s superintendant stamp (Vancouver General Hospital, Lionsgate Hospital, Guildford Mall, Victoria General Hospital, Terminal Park Safeway, Malaspina College and many more). He was a Drummer with the Nanaimo City Pipe Band and played centre-half with the Mount Benson Legion 256 Soccer Club. The family would like to acknowledge & thank the many friends and extended family who continued to visit George while he was in care. A special thanks to the Nanaimo Senior’s Village “E” Ward for their compassion, love and support. Each and every one of you contributed to George’s care & eased his passing. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Here’s tae us, Wha’s like us?
