George (Bud) Andrew Sutherland
August 14, 1936 ~ March 8, 2010
The Sutherland family is sad to announce the passing of Bud. After several years of ill health, Bud passed away on Monday March 8, 2010 at NRGH Palliative Care Unit.
Pre-deceased by his father Earl; mother Norma; brothers: Earl and Don. Survived by his loving wife, Diane (married 45 years); daughters: Michele (Bill), Kerrie (Jon), and Kellie (John); son Doug; brothers: Doug (Thea) and Brian (Brenda); grandchildren: Megan, Andrew, Shauna, Cassidy, Samantha, and Noah; mother-in-law Ella; and many nieces and nephews.
Bud was born in northern Ontario, but grew up in Nanaimo where he resided most of his life. The majority of his career was spent working for General Motors in the parts & service industry. Bud enjoyed gardening and the outdoors and was an avid golfer and curler in his younger years. He was an active member with the Associated Canadian Travellers. Bud’s kindness will be missed by his friends and family (especially his four-legged pal Geordy).
The family would like to thank the staff and care-givers at the Palliative Care Unit of NRGH. No service by request. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
