It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gayle Michelle MacKay on December 17, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Born in Vernon, BC on August 19, 1945. Gayle was a vibrant member of the Nanaimo Community for many years. Left to treasure here memory is Gayle’s son Chris (Maria) MacKay of Calgary, daughter Kimberley MacKay of Toronto and her precious granddaughter Hope Hillson.
Gayle will also be lovingly remembered by her mother Dora Jardine and her sister Barbra Downey both of Calgary, along with her niece Jill Gerke, nephew Mark Downey and their families. She will be welcomed in heaven by her infant son Todd, husband Richard MacKay and her beloved father Roy Jardine. Gayle had more obstacles to face in her life than most of us can imagine, yet she met each one with undaunting courage, humour and a special flair that was uniquely Gayle. To her, life was meant to be enjoyed to the fullest and her constant quest to do that was an inspiration. Gayle was blessed with an amazing group of exceptional friends who provided unwavering love and support throughout her journey. God speed Gayle.. may you finally be at peace.
A celebration of Gayle’s life will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services.
