Hart, Frederick John
Born September 18th, 1919 in Dittisham Devon, England. Passed away peacefully in his sleep December 18th, 2004. Fred is predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Elizabeth “Betty” and is survived by his daughter Moira her husband Doug and two Granddaughters Jennifer and Samantha. Dad was born into a seafaring family and became a shipwright, following in his Fathers and Grandfathers footsteps. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the Royal Navy as a “Chippy” he became a Chief Petty Officer and was by all accounts loved and respected by the men he served with. Fred came to Canada with his wife and daughter in 1965. Fred and Betty moved to Nanaimo to be with family in 1995. Dad was a member of The Royal Canadian Naval Association. Fred spent 7 years living at Lakeside Gardens in Nanaimo. He loved his time there and always remembered the wonderful staff. Dads last days were spent at Nanaimo Seniors Village. The family would like to thank the staff of Nanaimo Seniors Village and Lakeside Gardens for the love and care you showed Dad. He was happy to the end and now gets to see Mum again. We will be having a celebration of Fred’s life in January and will publish the dates after Christmas. All are welcome to attend.
