Freda Elizabeth Rodwell (Redman)
On Sept 15, 2009 Freda passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Ted (Theodore) and daughter Sandra. She is survived by her brother Don and nieces and nephew.
Born in Melfort, Saskatchewan on August 25, 1912, she lived her 97 years with strength, dignity and pride. Her great wit, hearty laugh and engaging conversations left her many lifelong friends.
She was a teacher in Nanaimo for many years and enjoyed meeting and talking with her old students and reminiscing of years gone by.
Her beloved Hornby Island was her paradise for countless years and she enjoyed sitting out on her patio chatting with friends stopping by for tea time and playing countless games of cards.
She was active with the Nanaimo Stroke Recovery Group for many years, and was always there with a comforting hug, words of encouragement, and a strong shoulder to lean on.
Her family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Lori Jacobson, a very close and devoted loving friend who was there for her at all times.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sept. 22, 2009 at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, at 2:00 pm - 1720 Bowen Rd. Nanaimo (off Townsite Rd). Reception to follow.
