Evelyn Mae Pollitt (nee Cottle)

May 19, 1947 - October 2, 2002

After a long struggle with leukemia, Evelyn Pollitt died on October 2, 2002 in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Evelyn was born and lived all her life in Nanaimo. Evelyn made a great many friends through her work at South End Super-Value, Staceys, G&M and Nanaimo Bakeries. She was a member of ACT Auxiliary and Nanaimo Historical Society. Evie loved to sing and was a former member of choirs at Haliburton St. and St. Andrew’s United Churches. She sometime sang solos at Chase River United Church. Evelyn was kind, caring, helpful and always full of fun, laughter and a joke or two. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Margaret (Schofield) and John Cottle and her father-in-law Harry Pollitt. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 32 years, Bob, son Scott (Donna) Pollitt, mother-in-law, Florrie Pollitt, sister Beverley (Loyd) Sherry, nieces Jennifer (Glen) Gordon, Ellen (Ken) Zerr, Gwendda (Wayne) Sorensen, brother-in-law Earl Pollitt, cousins, aunts, uncle and friends. Thank you, Dr. Zucarro, Dr. Denegri and the wonderful Fifth Floor Nursing Staff. Flowers gratefully declined, donations to the Cancer Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Service will take place at Brechin United Church, 11 am Saturday, October 5th, 2002.
