SUNTER, Emily
(nee Wilson)
Born December 22, 1927 , Nelson, Lancashire, England and passed away in Ladysmith, BC on October 11, 2008 after a long illness. Predeceased by her husband Barry, and her brother Edgar. Emily is survived by her daughter Anne (Alan) and her grandsons Keir (Michelle) and Andrew (Kyung Jin). Also left to mourn are the many family and friends in Canada, the U.S, Bahamas, and the U.K. Emily's life was one of education, linguistics, and personal learning. Emily began a career as an elementary school teacher in England, followed by a three-year stop in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, before the family moved to Vancouver Island in 1966. Emily taught in the Nanaimo School District for 21 years until her retirement. The family would like to give a special thanks to nurses and staff at the Lodge on 4th, Ladysmith for the dedicated care given to Emily. Also, heartfelt thanks to Emily's friend and neighbour, Mae Laukkanen, for her support. There will be no service by request. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation in Emily's name to CNIB.
