HAMBER, (COTTON) EILEEN MARJORY

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Eileen on Monday, June 4, 2007, in the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital at the age of 86. Predeceased by her parents, Sydney and Ada Cotton, brother David, husbands, Jack Batten, Charlie Woodward, and recently Don Hamber, husband of 34 years. She is survived by her siblings, Hilda (Tom), Stanley of Winnipeg, Audrey (Norman) Breedon of Nanaimo, John (Shirley) Cotton of Victoria, children Patricia (Julius) Bodor of Parksville, Fred (Ann) Woodward of Nanaimo and David (Kumiko) Woodward of Abbotsford. Step children Carson (Debbie) Hamber, Marnie (Glen) Bailey, Leigh Hamber and Ray Hamber, nine grandchildren, ten great grand children and three great great grand children.

Eileen was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she spent her youth and earlier married years. She entered the work force at the tender age of eight years. As she got older she worked mostly in the retail industry at Eaton's, the Empress Hotel, numerous bakeries and the Department of National Defense. She spent her retired years in Victoria, Sidney, and more recently Nanaimo. Eileen was a dear lady who was cherished by her family and friends for her sweetness and loving heart.

Sincere thanks to the staff and caregivers at Kiwanis Lodge, and to her caring friend Melissa. A private family remembrance was held on June 13, 2007. A memorial service, open to all family and friends will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services at 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, BC on June 30, 2007 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

She was deeply loved and will be sadly missed.
